In the Beginning........

Welcome to the madness.  This is my first attempt at a Ride Report chronicling my upcoming motorcycle adventure through northern India.  I will make my utmost attempt to update this Blog as near to real time as possible.  Be forewarned, I am not a writer, barely able to articulate my thoughts in my native tongue; and was once told by a former colleague of being a simpleton.  The ramblings of a Gnarly Adventurer to follow.  Let's Do This!

Back story:
A year ago I hatched the idea to ride the Roof of the World!  Dehli counterclockwise through the Himalayas, visit the people of Kashmir, maybe make my way down Punjab and ultimately just see how it goes.  My epiphany came at the bar in the Downtown Hotel, Dawson City, Yukon Territory; I looked over at my newly found Scottish Canadian Brotha from another Motha with the proposal of a lifetime(until the next one comes to me). Fly to India, rent some bikes, and attempt a 3500km loop with only a fist full of Rupees, our good looks and the spirit of adventure.


The Plan:
Here's the proposed route.  Head out of New Dehli north, motor East and then up into the Himalayas making our way through Northern Kashmir and down to Punjab.  Then drone back into the madness of Dehli for high fives and King Fishers.  Easy eh', I explained it in only two sentences, never mind traveling roads where we will be lucky to make 200km's a day on.  Here is our link: Track the Dynamic Duo Here

Numero Uno of Dynamic Duo, in no particular order of course.  SchlepRock; nope my mom did not name me that, just a nickname of sorts, hardly flattering, but it pays da bills.  Grew up in the PNW, left after college, been all over the world a few times, standard crap.  Been riding motorcycles my whole life minus a few breaks for other "weekly hobbies".  Big into Adventure Motorcycle riding which is more of a lifestyle than anything else where the journey is the destination, unless you only ride your GSA to Starbucks on Saturday mornings.  Boom!  Found a wife that pretty much lets me do whatever I want, well almost, and I'm pretty fortunate to be able and get away with other riff raff to ride bikes.

Numero Dos of Dynamic Duo, Winston "The Great"!  Now, Winston's parents loved him more than mine loved me, so his actual English proper name is Winston.  Hailing from the 51st state (Canada) with the thickest Scottish accent I have ever heard.  I met him at the ferry terminal in Prince Rupert headed to Skagway in Alaska.  I talked him into following me up to Dawson for a couple days before parting ways.  He was headed to Anchorage alone and unafraid for a little fishing and to get his oil changed in his Italian Thoroughbred MultiStrada.  Who the hell rides their Ducati from Calgary to Anchorage for a Freak'n oil change.  My kinda dude, that's who!  Don't be mistaken, 100% Canadian, 100% Cool Factor and a great dude to hang out with over beers solving the worlds problems.
